250 participate in workshop on ‘Marathi writing online’

Aurangabad, March 1:

A total of 250 teachers, researchers, students and writers participated in a workshop organised on ‘creating pages for wikipedia’ in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) to celebrate Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din.

Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT), Marathi and Sociology Departments, Tarabai Shinde Women’s Study Centre of Bamu, Marathi Vishwakosh Nirmiti Mandal, IETE and CSI City Centres are the organisers of the workshop.

Earlier, CSIT Department head Dr Sachin Deshmukh made an introductory speech. Dr Ratnadeep Deshmukh said that 250 persons participated in the workshop.

T B Prabhakar from IIT-Kanpur and Rahul Deshmukh from IIT-Mumbai were the chief guests. T B Prabhakar said that preservation of mother tongue would help the country to become ‘Vishwaguru.’

Rahul Deshmukh said there is a need to develop a habit of writing in Marathi to strengthen Marathi encyclopedia.
