Aurangabad, March 4:

Special district and session Judge, K R Chaudhary, sentenced three persons including victim’s mother to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 90,000 fine under Protection of Children against Sexual Offence Act (POCSO) and other sections for beating and sexually abusing a minor girl. The accused have been identified as Vinod Rohidas Pawar 921, Shaikh Najeem Shaikh Azim (32, both residents of Kannad) and Victim’s mother (35).

A 16 years old victim minor girl had lodge a complaint stating that accused Shaikh Najeem and her mother had illicit relations. While her father was away at Mumbai for work, he had keep the victim and her siblings at a doctor’s residence.

On February 12, 2017, victim’s mother and Shaikh Najeem forcibly brought the victim from doctor’s house and asked her to marry Vinod Pawar. The police on receiving the information rushed and stopped the victim’s marriage with Pawar. Similarly, On May 21, 2017, she was again forcibly taken to Pawar’s house. Pawar locked her in his house and sexually abused her. On June 3, 2017, the victim rescued herself and went directly to the doctor’s house. Kannad police station PSI S J Pawar investigated the matter. During the hearing, additional prosecutor, Sudesh Shirsath examined six witnesses.

At the end of the hear, the court sentenced Vinod Pawar to 10 years rigorous imprisonment under section of IPC 376 and Rs 5,000 fine, 20 years RI under section 4 and 6 of POCSO and Rs 10,000 fine each. Similarly, 3 years imprisonment and Rs 5,000 fine under POCSO section 8. Accused Shaikh Najeem and victim’s mother were sentenced 20 years imprisonment and Rs 30,000 fine each under section 17 of POCSO Act.
