600 beneficiaries to benefit from Krishi Swavalamban Yojana

Aurangabad, Feb 6:

With the administrative approval given by the state government to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Krishi Swavalamban Yojana, the way has been cleared for the selection of 600 beneficiaries in the district. A fund of Rs 15 crore has been sanctioned for this and soon the beneficiary selection process will be implemented through the MahaDBT portal.

The scheme is implemented for Scheduled Caste (SC) farmers through agriculture department. From 2016, 400 to 600 farmers are selected every year from this scheme and they are given the benefit of the new well, old well repair, farm pond lining and other benefits. The implementation of this scheme was temporarily suspended by the government in the year 2020-21 on the backdrop of corona. In the meantime, the government had given administrative and technical approval to the Birsa Munda Krishi Kranti Yojana, which is applicable to the Scheduled Tribes. As a result, 600 SC farmers were likely to be deprived of benefits this year. But the minister of state Abdul Sattar raised the issue with the agriculture committee chairman, ZP president and vice president in a meeting. He also requested that the ban be lifted. Finally, a government order has been issued in this regard on Friday. In all, 1,420 applications have been received for this scheme. The beneficiaries will be selected through a lottery system from MahaDBT portal, said district agriculture development officer Anand Ganjewar.
