8 booked for siphoning scholarship of students

Aurangabad, Jan 27:

The Kranti Chowk police have booked eight persons including officials and principal of the Nisargdeep Education Society for siphoning the scholarship amount of the students. The case has been registered as per the directives of the court, the police said.

The accused included the officials of the society Vijendra Gulabsingh Jadhav (Banjara Colony), Suresh Vijendra Jadhav (46), Surjeet Asaram Rathod (46, Sanjaynagar), Kamleshsingh Raghunathsingh Thakur (60), Vijay Sambhaji Sambhatwad (Vidyut Colony), Jaisingh Popatsingh Singhal, Vijay Piran Patil and one woman.

According to the complaint lodged by complainant Mangilal Govardhan Chavan 962, Narayannagar), the educational institute runs a college at Chitepimpalgaon named Shri Tuljabhavani College of Arts, Commerce and Science. Several students had taken education in this college between the period June 1, 2007 and January 25, 2021. The students of the backward classes are given scholarship by the Government’s social welfare department and the responsibility to provide this scholarship to the students is on the college administration. However, the officials siphoned the amount of the scholarship by providing forged documents. The complainant had lodged a complaint at the Kranti Chowk police station but a case was not registered. Hence, he approached the court and the court directed the police to register a case. Accordingly, the police registered a case on January 25.
