Aurangabad, May 3:

The Corona patients are coming to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in their advanced stages due to which the mortality due to Covid has increased. In all, 187 patients died in GMCH in just 24 hours after admission. In all, 1241 deaths have been reported in GMCH from March 1 to May 3. Moreover, 83 deaths were reported from the Casualty department and three were brought dead. 39.89 percent patients died in ICU-MICU while 53.42 percent during treatment 6.69 percent in the casualty.

1283 Corona patients died in the district between March 1 and May 2, of which, 1241 deaths are reported from the GMCH. 15 percent of these patients died within 24 hours after admission in the casualty, informed the head of the GMCH death audit committee Dr Anil Joshi. The patients not only from the Aurangabad district but also from the other district are admitted in the GMCH and also died due to Corona. The death due to Covid is a grave concern and the patients should approach the hospitals as soon as the symptoms are noticed, Dr Joshi appealed.

The second Corona wave hit the country in the February end and the active patients in the district on March 1 were 2192. However, the patients increased rapidly and reached above 15,000 in April.

Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar said the patients are not coming to the hospital in the early state of the disease and hence it is difficult to treat them in the advance stage of the disease. The patients should not delay in getting the treatment as soon as the symptoms are noticed, she said.
