87 motorcycles, 13 four-wheelers added to rural police force fleet

Aurangabad, June 11:

The Aurangabad rural police fleet got the additional 87 motorcycles and 13 four-wheelers today. Industry minister and guardian minister Subhash Desai opined that these vehicles will help the rural police to implement effective patrolling. These 87 motorcycles and 6 four-wheelers were given to the rural police department from the district development funds. Similarly, 7 Jeeps were provided from the Directorate General of Police for Dial 112 service. The vehicles were handed over to the force today. Zilla Parishad president Meena Shelke, MP Dr Bhagwat Karad, MLA Ramesh Bornare, MLC Ambadas Danve, district collector Sunil Chavan, special IGP K M Mallikarjun Prasanna, Superintendent of police Mokshada Patil, Assistant SP Gorakh Bhamre, and others were present.

Desai said the government is giving impetus to modernizing the police force. For which, funds were provided from the district planning scheme for the rural police. Even the lady police constables (LPC) will conduct the patrolling on the motorcycles now. They will be provided special training for it.

Speaking on occasion, SP Mokshada Patil praised the first lady beat marshal and the police employees. The vehicles will be provided in 23 police stations in the division, she said.

Assistant SP Gorakh Bhamre, deputy SP Dr Vishal Nehul, Puja Gaikwad, PI Bhagwat Phunde, motor vehicle department PI Mahendra Mohal, constable Sanjay Nirmal and others took efforts for the success of the programme.

Meanwhile, union minister of state Raosaheb Danve, Employment Guarantee Scheme minister Sandipan Bhumre, minister of state Abdul Sattar, MLA Haribhau Bagade, MLA Prashant Bamb, MLA Udaysingh Rajput turned their back to the programme. Their seats were vacant during the function.

In all, 87 LPCs were imparted a month's training for riding the bikes. Three instructors of the motor vehicle branch trained them. Some LPCs used to ride mopeds but could not ride the gear motorcycles. Some had never tried any vehicle. All of them were given training.
