9374 Amphotericin B injections received for Aurangabad, Latur and Nasik circles

Aurangabad, June 17:

Assistant solicitor general Ajay Talhar on Thursday submitted a report to the Aurangabad division bench stating that the Central government has received 9374 Amphotericin B injections between June 10 and 15 for the treatment of the Mucormycosis patients in Aurangabad, Latur and Nashik circles. In all, 9278 injections have been distributed in these three circles, while on June 15, only 96 injections were left. In all, 2026 Mucormycosis patients were found in the eight districts of Marathwada, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar and Ahmednagar district coming under the jurisdiction of the Aurangabad division bench, of which 1033 patients are being treated, 781 recovered while 184 died, informed the chief government pleader D R Kale to the division bench. The hearing on this suo moto public interest litigation was held before the bench comprising chief justice of the Bombay High Court Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Ravindra Ghuge. The next hearing will be held on June 28. The Corona patients have reduced recently. Aurangabad has the biggest government hospital in Marathwada, and poor people from around 15 districts come for treatment here. There is a super specialty ward and treatment facilities; still, the patients have to refrain from the treatment due to the lack of specialist doctors. MP, Imtiyaaz Jaleel, as an intervener, brought this fact to the notice of the bench. He raised the question of whether the medical machinery here is ready to tackle the Corona third possible wave, he said. The bench granted permission to MP Imtiyaaz Jaleel to submitted an independent public interest litigation on the issues raised by him about the facilities and equipment at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Adv Satyajeet Bora appeared as the amicus curiae.
