Absconding MCOCA accused arrested after six years

Aurangabad, March 13:

The Crime Branch has arrested a criminal booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for conducting a robbery in a house at Jyotinagar in Dashmeshnagar area on October 14, 2015, almost after six years.

The accused has been identified as Pandurang alias Gajanan Kachre (Ambejobai, Beed). The Crime Branch, on March 12, laid a trap and arrested Kachre from Ambejogai. The police had taken action under MCOCA against Kachre and his accomplices.

Kachre along with Suryakant Shriram Muley (28, Gandhinagar, Ambejogai), Vinod Digambar Gaikwad (Jyotinagar), Gorakhnath Raghunath Khedekar (21), Sunil Bhausaheb Pawar, nandu Pandharinath Shirsath and Rajendra Shriram Kalse broke the house of Mishrilal Kanhaiyalal Bardiya (81), who stayed alone in the house at Jyotinagar in 2015. The dacoits stole Rs 1.05 lakh cash and gold jewellery amounting Rs 50,000. Four accused had actively participated in this crime. A case was registered at the Osmanpura Police Station in this regard. The police arrested Kachre’s accomplices, but he was at large since then.

Meanwhile, the crime branch PI Avinash Aghav received information that Kachre is at his native village in Ambejogai. Accordingly, PSI, Yogesh Dhonde, ASI Nandkumar Bhandare, constable Ganpat Garad, Gajanan Mate, Bhavsingh Chavan, Rahul Kharat, Sunil Mote, Nitin Deshmukh, and driver Taterao Shingare laid a trap and arrested Kachare on Friday night.

Another accused in this crime, Rajendra Kachre, was earlier arrested by the police. He was granted bail, but he did not attend the subsequent proceedings of the court. Hence, the court issued a warrant against him. The police arrested and produced him before the court, the police said.
