ACB arrests MSEDCL technician for taking bribe

Aurangabad, Feb 8:

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a senior technician of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) red-handed while accepting Rs 4,500 bribe from a customer to install an electricity meter at Chikalthana MIDC on Monday afternoon.

The arrested employee has been identified as Vitthal Keshav Dhaygude. According to the details, the complainant had applied for a new meter for his house newly constructed at Sundarwadi Shivar. The senior technician of the Chikalthana rural office, Vitthal Dhaygude demanded bribe of Rs 5,000 for installation of the meter but the complainant was not willing him to pay the bribe and he lodged a complaint at the ACB. After negotiation, a deal was made at Rs 4,500. ACB officers laid a trap and arrested Dhaygude red-handed while accepting the bribe. A case has been registered at the Cidco MIDC police station.
