Actual classes did not begin in 2 K schools of State; claims MESTA

Aurangabad, July 15:

Maharashtra English School Trustees Association (MESTA) on Thursday claimed that actual classes did not begin at 2,000 schools in Covid free villages of the State today over not getting permission from the sarpanch.

It may be noted that schools have remained closed since March 2020 due to Covid lockdown except for few weeks.

Many villages had no pandemic virus patients for the past few weeks. The State Government conducted a survey of parents and students about holding actual classes in schools.

On the basis of their feedback, the State Government issued guidelines to restart actual classes in the schools from standard 8th to 12 in Covid free villages from July 15.

The Zilla Parishad in each district was asked to set up a seven-member committee of a village and make its sarpanch its president. Each school of a village needs to take permission from the sarpanchs before commencing classes.

MESTA office-bearer Sanjayrao Tayade Patil claimed sarpanchs did not give permission to hold actual classes in 2000 schools.
