All betting transactions took place through online: Police

Aurangabad, Oct 23:

The police busted an IPL betting racket on Thursday night. They seized 52 mobile phones, gadgets and accessories and reached upon a conclusion that all monetary transactions which took place relating to betting was made online (through Paytm), revealed the primary investigation.

The City Chowk police station busted an IPL betting centre by raiding flats in an apartment at Rauza Baugh on Thursday night. The police also registered offences against 17 persons, including seven women. Meanwhile, the cops have a hunt for four more suspects wanted in the case. The centre was recording transactions of crores of rupees daily. The police had confiscated 52 mobile handsets, LED TV, laptop, charger, set up boxes and cash Rs 12,000, all valuing Rs 5.20 lakh from the flats.

It has come to notice that the staff was appointed on a salary basis. After clearance of payment online, they would record the name of the person on the laptop. They used to share the results of betting through the online phone. Not a single transaction took place in manual form.

The City Chowk PI Sambhaji Pawar said, " We will take help of Cyber Cell police to reach till the prime accused in the case."
