Ambulances struggle to get fuel

Aurangabad, March 28:

For the last two days, there have been long queues of motorists at petrol pumps for refuelling their vehicles. The rush even led to some fuel stations going dry on Saturday. Fuel shortage had also halted ambulances. In addition, the attendants at a few petrol pumps denied giving fuel to the ambulance without a patient.

It was announced on Saturday that a lockdown would be carried out in Aurangabad district from March 30 to April 8. This led to long queues at petrol pumps to refuel. A similar situation was witnessed on Sunday. Meanwhile, a photo of an ambulance carrying the dead body of a corona patient parked on the road due to running out of fuel went viral on social media on Sunday. When the ambulance driver was contacted, he said that the incident took place on Saturday. The driver said that three petrol pumps refused fuel. But he got the fuel about half an hour later.

Must get fuel immediately

Preference is given to refuelling only when there are no patients in the ambulance. But some petrol pump attendants said that they will give fuel only if there is a patient. Hence many ambulance drivers had to face a problem. Whether the ambulance is empty or not, it must be immediate refuelled said, Kiran Rawal, president, Bhavnik Ambulance Group.
