AMC demands Rs 15 cr from district administration for upgrading facilities in CCCs

Aurangabad, March 24:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) administration has demanded a fund of Rs 15 crore from the district collector to maintain and upgrade facilities in the Covid Care Centres (CCCs) of the city. Meanwhile, the AMC has ordered its stores section to initiate the process of buying 5,000 new cots with beds to be placed in the newly established CCCs in the city.

As reported earlier, the AMC has decided to convert the colleges, hostels, function halls etc into CCCs. Hence the AMC will have to make arrangement for all facilities like cots, beds, pillows, mattress etc them along with fixing ceiling fans.

Besides, the fans will also be fixed in the existing CCCs (if needed). Hence the store's section has been ordered to start the process of buying 5,000 cots, said the city engineer S D Panzade.

It is learnt the AMC would be utilising Rs 15 crore fund to maintain the medical infrastructure, pay rent of the buildings and their electricity charges.

MIT demands Rs 4 crore rent

The AMC has started the CCC in MIT College's Boys Hostel. Hence the MIT College has demanded a rent of Rs 4.25 crore. The letter in this regard has been issued to the AMC, said Panzade. Meanwhile, the other organisations and institutes had also demanded the rent but had not given it in writing. The AMC had started the CCC at the Divisional Sports Complex and the electricity consumption bill of Rs 12 lakh was posted. The MSEDCL disconnected the power supply due to non-payment of bills.
