AMC demolishes three-storey building in Labour Colony area

Aurangabad, March 9:

The anti-encroachment squad of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has demolished an illegally constructed three-storeyed commercial building situated on the campus of the district collectorate today. The construction was made on the land owned by the Maharashtra State Board of Wakf (MSBoW).

It may be noted that Wakf properties surround the office of the registration and stamps (on the district collectorate campus). As per the AMC officials, the illegal construction of a two-storey building was completed on Wakf land, admeasuring 15 feet x 40 feet. The location of the site is on the left side of the road extending from Delhi Gate to Labour Colony. This is the rear entrance of the collectorate office. The construction of the column to build the third storey was underway. The AMC had served notices to Mateen Khan Khizer Khan directing him to stop the work. He did not reply to any notice.

Earlier, the AMC had demolished the illegal construction two times when it was at the initial stage. The AMC officials had seized the building material and equipment also. Despite this, the property occupant continued the construction. Hence the AMC squad on Tuesday, with the help of a breaker, demolished the total structure (concrete columns and slabs). The action was taken by designated officer Vasant Bhoye, Savita Sonawane, R S Rachatwar and building inspectors in the presence of police security led by Faheem Hashmi.

Generally, the AMC squad, while taking action against an illegal encroacher, would demolish one portion of the wall as a formality, but in today's case, the squad demolished the whole structure using the breaker. When asked about the reason behind it, the civic officials refused to comment.
