Aurangabad, Feb 17:

The installation horse-mounted (Ashwarudh) statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Kranti Chowk is yet to be completed. Honouring the sentiments of the followers, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has decided to install a statue (temporary) on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti at Kranti Chowk, tomorrow.

The project was expected to be completed this year, but could not be done. As a result, the office-bearers of Aurangabad Zilla Shiv Jayanti Mahotsav Samiti (AZSJMS) met the municipal commissioner A K Pandey, and they urged him to make an alternate arrangement so that the followers could pay tributes to him on the birth anniversary of the Maratha leader.

Accordingly, the AMC city engineer S D Panzade, executive engineer Hemant Kolhe, deputy engineer B K Pardeshi, sectional engineer Nana Patil and electrical section's Babar along with AZSJMS office-bearers including founder president Prithviraj Pawar, president Jaganath Kale, executive president Manoj Patil, Santosh Kawale Patil, Anand Wagh and Gaurav Jaiswal visited Kranti Chowk.

After inspection, the AMC decided to erect a huge stage on one side of the Kranti Chowk and install a statue of Shivaji Maharaj (temporary basis). The illumination will also be done at the venue.

Meanwhile, referring to the state government's order, the AMC administrator A K Pandey has issued an order allowing 100 visitors to celebrate the Shiv Jayanti. There will be public functions, processions and cultural programmes at the public places. The guidelines relating to Covid-19 should be followed strictly, the order stated.
