AMC repairs burst pipeline; restores water supply

Aurangabad, March 14:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) repaired a leaked 700 mm water pipeline on Saturday and started supplying water to city areas from Sunday morning.

It may be noted that the water pipeline which supplies water to old city areas burst at Isarwadi on Friday midnight.

Water was supplied to the city from a 1400 mm pipeline to the city on Friday and Saturday.

The Civic Body completed the repair work in 24 hours. It released water on Sunday to the areas which were deprived it yesterday. The city got 40 to 45 MLD which is insufficient for the city. So, the colonies in the old city areas were deprived of water.

After the repair at 11 pm last night, the testing of the pipeline was done. Water was brought to Nakshetrawadi from Jaykwadi at 5 am today and then supplied to the Old City.

Water tanks were filled with water this afternoon and supplied to the colonies on a priority basis.

The areas which should get water on Sunday were deprived of it. Incharge executive engineering of AMC Kiran Dhande said that water would be supplied to the areas on Monday.

He said that some colonies would get water with low pressure in the next few days or would wait for a day. “So, we are planning to postpone supply of water for one day to all areas,” he added.

The administration announced a lockdown on Saturday and Sunday to contain the spread of Novel coronavirus.

However, many colleges were deprived of water on both days. Women and children were seen wandering on main roads in search of water.
