AMC starts Swachh Helpline to get rid of garbage problems

Aurangabad, March 12:

The solid waste management cell (SWM) of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started Swachh Helpline (landline number 0240-2344145) to settle complaints of the citizens regarding the waste problem. The citizens can contact the helpline if the garbage collecting vehicle hand has not visited their door, if the garbage is spread on the road after lifting of waste by vehicle, burning of garbage waste at a public place etc.

Earlier, the municipal commissioner A K Pandey had set a target to enlist the city as the top 10 scorers in the Cleanliness Survey 2021. Under the supervision of the SWM cell head Nandkishore Bhombe, the AMC teams comprising sanitary inspectors, workers, jawans, drivers, lifters and other personnel had devoted themselves to achieve cent per cent door-to-door garbage collection. The AMC's garbage processing plants at Chikalthana and Padegaon are in full swing. Each plant is processing 150 metric tones (MT) of garbage daily, apart from the bio-gas plant of 30 metric tonnes capacity at Kanchanwadi. The AMC also has three dry garbage segregation plants in the city.

Bhombe said, " We were receiving complaints from alert citizens mentioning about the improper lifting of garbage by the existing machinery and other garbage problems. To settle their plaints on priority and to develop the city into a garbage-free destination, the AMC has introduced the helpline for the citizens."
