Aurangabad, Feb 25:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will soon be alerting 39 private hospitals in the city to arrange for 3,500 beds under their roofs to treat Covid-19 patients during an emergency, said the municipal officer of health (MoH), Dr Neeta Padalkar.

The citizens are panicked after more than 1,000 Coronavirus infected patients from the city were reported in the last one week. Hence the AMC geared up to tackle the critical situation. The Covic Care Centres at CSMSS College-Nakshatrawadi, MIT Hostel and CIPET will be started again in a couple of days for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, said Dr Padalkar, adding that 80 patients from 31 families were tested as Covid-19 positive (after contact tracing) in the past five days.

Presently there are 300 beds in Meltron CCC, and the strength of patients admitted is 310; Padampura CCC - 53 beds and patients admitted are 56; MGM Sports Complex CCC - 75 and patients are 73; Kile Ark CCC - 350 and patients undergoing treatment are 83.

Dr Padalkar said, " Of all the patients undergoing treatment in the city, 1199 are residents from areas within the AMC limits, 140 are from rural areas, and seven are from outside the district."
