AMC to convert 31 function halls in Covid Care Centres; Capacity to be increased by 2,000 beds

Aurangabad, March 24:

To arrange the medical infrastructure in a short period of time and tackle the growing rush of Covid-19 patients, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will be converting 31 function halls into Covid Care Centres (CCCs) in the first phase. These centres will start functioning in a couple of days.

The existing CCCs set up the civic administration are falling short. The strength of patients is more than the capacity of beds available for treatment in them. Hence the AMC surveyed and shortlisted the halls which were used as quarantine centres during the last year. The list of 60 function halls is ready, out of which, 31 will be started with immediate effect.

The city engineer S D Panzade confirmed that the list of function halls to be converted in CCCs is ready. " The ward officers had been informed through written communication to take possession of these halls. The infrastructures will be in possession by today evening or tomorrow morning. We will be arranging a facility of 2,014 beds in these 31 halls. The process to buy 5,000 cots and beds is also underway."
