AMC to focus on filling potholes through polymer technology

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), after the end of the rain lashes, has decided to focus on undertaking a drive to fill up potholes in the city by using polymer technology. Instead of awarding a contract to the company, the civic administration is planning to purchase the required equipment and material to fill up potholes and do it on own.

The downpour in the city has caused deep potholes on important roads and bylanes of the city. It had caused resentment amongst people against the AMC. During last month, the AMC on an experimental basis deployed a Pune-based company to fill up the potholes using polymer technology. The successful performance is encouraging the civic body to fill the potholes existing in different parts of the city.

During the meantime, the AMC held an audit of potholes to gauge how much polymer material and other things would need to complete the task. The civic chief instructed the civic officials to procure the necessary material from the company and undertake the task through the AMC workforce rather than awarding the contract to it.

Pandey today said, " We will undertake the task of filling potholes after the end of rain lashes (totally). The AMC will execute the works of filling potholes through the ward offices (zonal offices). The company''s technical team will assist them."

Meanwhile, the city engineer S D Panzade hinted that the AMC would invite tender and shortlist a contractor to fill up the potholes.
