Aurangabad, March 25:

The stock of Covid-19 vaccine available with the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is on the verge of finishing. Meanwhile, the civic administration is hoping to receive a fresh stock of 10,000 vaccines by tomorrow.

As per the Central Government's directives, the AMC had started the vaccination drive on January 16. So far, the AMC had vaccinated 86,000 citizens through its centres. The shortage of vaccine has been felt for the past two days, said the sources added that the stock of 3500 vaccines was available on Wednesday. Of which, 1,500-2000 vaccines have been used today. Hence there are only 1,500 vaccines in the stock of AMC, said the sources.

AMC to receive Rs 2.5 cr fund

The AMC has decided to purchase 10 ambulance and other necessary equipment as it is expecting to receive the aid of Rs 2.5 crore from the state's Department of Relief and Rehabilitation (DRR), soon.

As per the list prepared by the civic officials, the fund will be utilised to purchase ambulances, computers/laptop/printers/xerox machines etc., at AMC's each health centre and hospital. Refrigerator and deep freezer will also be bought from the fund. This will help all the health centres, and hospitals to function without any hassles said the city engineer S D Panzade.

Earlier, the AMC administrator A K Pandey had urged the principal secretary (DRR) Aseem Gupta to provide financial help to AMC. Accordingly, Gupta agreed upon granting a fund of Rs 2.5 crore. It may be noted that the number of patients is increasing in the city each day, but on the other hand, the AMC is falling short in providing medical facilities to the patients.
