Amid bird flu scare AMC sets up Control Room

Aurangabad, Jan 12:

Amid the scare among people over bird flu cases in the state and in the country, the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has set up a control room at its veterinary hospital near Central Octroi Naka, today.

The Livestock Development Officer Dr S A Quadri will head the control room. Livestock Supervisor Shaikh Shaded will assist him, and the labourers Devnath Hingmire and Shaikh Mateen will be the field workers.

In the order issued today, the chief animal husbandry officer (CAHO) stated to forward information about the birds dying with the symptoms of bird flu-like disease (reported by people). They are also told to collect information about animals dying of the disease in the AMC limits. The control room is also instructed to send the dead birds samples for testing to the animal husbandry office at Khadkeshwar. The control room staff is also directed to submit a report on a daily basis.

Sensation prevailed after the district authorities in Parbhani had confirmed that 800 chickens in a village died due to bird flu. The outbreak had been confirmed in states like Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, the chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had also held a meeting to review Maharashtra's situation recently.
