Appointment of additional commissioner invalid

Aurangabad, July 21:

The urban development department dismissed the proposal of the municipal administration regarding the appointment of municipal deputy commissioner Ravindra Nikam as additional commissioner stating that this proposal does not meet the promotion criteria. In the letter sent to the municipal commissioner, it has been mentioned that the proposal for selection to the post of additional commissioner should be submitted to the government as per the eligibility criteria in paragraph 3 (1) dated January 6, 2015 of the government resolution.

Deputy commissioner Nikam was promoted to the post of additional commissioner by the municipal commissioner a few months ago. Nikam was also given the designation of additional commissioner. A proposal was sent to the urban development department for approval. Section officer of the urban development department Pradeep Patil has sent a letter to the municipal commissioner. In this letter, he has said that the criteria have been fixed in the GR dated January 6, 2015 regarding the creation of additional commissioner posts in the municipal corporations of the state and the procedure for filling these posts. The proposal sent by the commissioner does not appear to meet these criteria. Therefore, the proposal should be submitted as per the criteria. The corporation has two additional commissioners. Officers are appointed on deputation by the government to one post. An officer can be promoted to the second post. A meeting was also held recently for the promotion of officers. However, a final decision could not be reached at this meeting.
