Aurangabad – Nagar railway route survey begins

Aurangabad, March 1:

The field survey of the Aurangabad – Ahmednagar (120 kms) railway route began on Monday. A team of the Central Railway has arrived in the city for it. After the establishment of this railway route, the city will get connectivity to Pune. It will be convenient for getting connectivity to Pune through this route, it is said, but Pune connectivity can also be caning through the Rotegaon – Kopargaon railway route, which is just a distance of 22 kms. Hence, the experts fear that the Rotegaon – Kopargaon railway route will be hampered due to this proposed new route.

Central Railway deputy chief operation manager (survey), Sureshchandra Jain, chief traffic inspector (survey) Raviprakash Gujral and Mukeshlal held a meeting with the city industrialists at Subhedari Rest House to discuss Aurangabad – Ahmednagar railway route. MP, Dr Bhagwat Karad, Aurangabad First president Pritesh Chaterjee, industrialists Mukund Kulkarni, Ram Bhogale, Kamlesh Dhoot, Raman Ajgaonkar, Ravindra Vaidya and others were present. The officers took information about the goods transport from the city and the possible increase of goods transport after the new route.

This proposed route will include Sajapur, Gangapur, Devgadh, Nevasa, Shanishingnapur. The industrialists said that it would be more beneficial if goods depot is established at Sajapur.

The team will visit various places on the route till March 4 and will take a review.

Earlier, people had to go through Ahmednagar – Daund to Pune, but now it will be possible to go to Pune from Ahmednagar through Cadline. The survey report will be ready within three months and will be submitted to the railway board, said Jain.

The president of the Marathwada Railway Vikas Samiti, Omprakash Varma said, we are waiting to get the connectivity to Pune by joining the Rotegaon to Kopargaon railway route for the past 25 years. This distance is only 22 kms. The survey of this route has already been done, and the DPR is also ready. Hence, this route will be established sooner or later. Now, the Aurangabad – Nagar survey is being done, and we welcome it, he said.
