Aurangabad tehsil to cross 200 per cent rainfall

Aurangabad, Oct 22:

The district received 55 per cent more rainfall than the annual average. Aurangabad tehsil is on the verge of crossing the 200 per cent annual rainfall mark followed by Paithan and Vaijapur tehsils. The district has received the highest rainfall in the last decade.

It rained 80 mm in and around Aurangabad on October 21. Aurangabad tehsil received 194 per cent rainfall, Phulambri 130 per cent, Paithan 180 per cent, Sillod 160 per cent, Soygaon 142 per cent, Kannad 135 per cent, Vaijapur 186 per cent, Gangapur 167 per cent and Khultabad 121 per cent rainfall. The entire district has received around 155 per cent rainfall.

Compared to the annual average of the district, 660 mm of rain was expected till October 22, however, 1,051 mm of rain has fallen till date. Till October 22 last year, 1,045 mm of rainfall was recorded. Given this amount of rainfall, it is clear that the kharif crops like cotton and pulses have been damaged in the district.
