Aurangabad, July 9:

The Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University has decided to set up result regulatory committees to stop confusion over the results of undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

All non-agricultural universities in the state conducted online exams during the corona pandemic as per the instructions of the department of higher education. Except for a few technical difficulties, the university succeeded in the online exam. However, only 184 out of 11,000 students passed the B.Com first semester computer application paper. This caused outcry from students and student organizations.

The confusion was heightened when the examination department announced different results three times in a row. Meanwhile, vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole appointed a sub-committee to find out the facts. As per the recommendations made by the committee, the Board of Examination (BOE) decided to pass the unsuccessful students by giving average marks. Accordingly, 10,338 students passed after the announcement of fresh results.

As per the old university law, there was a provision of the result regulatory committee. But it was scrapped during the formation of new law. However, the vice chancellor can form regulatory committees under his powers. Accordingly, such committees of all faculties have been set up. This committee consists of the dean of the concerned faculty, senior professor and the controller of examinations. Such committees will function for every discipline.

Results will be placed before the regulatory committee for verification before they are announced. The committee will scrutinize whether the answer sheets have been properly checked, students are given proper marks and the question paper drawn according to the prescribed pattern. The examination and evaluation department will be given the green light to announce the results only after verification.
