Aurangabad, April 10:

Dr Babasaheb Ambekdar Marathwada University (Bamu) administration has planned to purchase trolleys to keep library books for 24 hours in isolation before issuing them to any student or teacher.

The university library issues many books for researchers, students and teachers daily for study.

After using the books, they return to the library. Taking into the current situation, the library administration has decided to keep the returned books in a trolly for 24 hours before giving them to another reader. The reason is that the books cannot be sanitised, so they should be kept in isolation for 24 hours as precautionary measures. This requires big mobile trolleys.

The library submitted a proposal to the university administration for the trolleys. However, the required trolleys are not available in the market. The administration decided to get manufacture trolleys from a fabrication worker. The Estate Department will make available trolleys to the library.

Director of the central library (which also known as Knowledge Resource Centre) Dr Dharmaraj Veer, said that they need a big stock of rare and reference books.

“Many books are issued for research and study. It is not good to issue returned books to another person in COVID situation without taking measures. So, we decided to keep the returned books in isolation for 24 hours,” he added.
