Bird flu: 9 RRT with district control room equipped

Aurangabad, Jan 10:

The poultry industry faced severe losses during the Corona crisis, now, when it is getting stable for the past few months, it is hit again by the bird flu. The poultry owners are panicked as chicken have died in various districts. However, no trace of bird flu has been reported in the Aurangabad district until now. Still, the nine rapid response teams (RRT) in nine tehsils in the district with the control room have been made ready to face the bird flu situation.

Incidents of birds dying due to bird flu were reported from Latur and Parbhani districts. However, no deaths have been reported in the district so far, still the poultry owners are panicked. There are estimated 6.33 lakh hens in the district and the administration has appealed to take precautions so that they are not infected.

District animal husbandry officer, Dr Surekha Mane said, no deaths of the birds like crow, pigeon or peacock has been reported in the district so far. If any deaths occurred, the district animal husbandry department should be informed and the tests will be conducted immediately to know the reasons of the deaths, she said.
