Business affected due to closure of Akashwani Chowk

Aurangabad, Feb 25:

In order to reduce the frequent traffic jams, the city traffic police are closing the Akashwani signals and only straight traffic is allowed on the Jalna Road. The dividers are closed with barricades during specific time every day. It has impacted the business of the traders at Jawahar Colony, they claimed.

There are around 200 shops on the Akashwani to Trimurti Chowk and the adjoining area. The business of these shops depends on the residents of Jawahar Colony, Pundliknagar, Garkheda and the nearby areas. The residents while going from this road use to purchase things from these shops.

The traffic police taking the measure to reduce the frequent traffic jams at Akashwani Chowk, are closing the dividers by barricades between specific time. Hence, the vehicles going towards Gajanan Maharaj Chowk have to go under Seven Hills flyover. Hence, the traders claimed that their 50 percent business has hampered due to these traffic measures. The traders have submitted a memorandum to the commissioner of police to remove the barricades at the Akashwani Chowk and start the signals again as usual. Around 100 traders have signed the memorandum.
