Aurangabad, April 26:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) municipal commissioner and administrator A K Pandey today has ordered the ward officers to clean up all the nullahs in the city before the onset of the monsoon. Meanwhile, to increase the speed of pre-monsoon works, Pandey also ordered the mechanical section to procure one poclain, four JCBs, and 10 tippers.

The meeting to review the pre-monsoon maintenance works was held today. He came to know that the mechanical section had spared three poclains, six JCBs, eight tippers, and nine hoppers for the task of desilting nullahs in the city, but the strength is inadequate. Hence to speed up the work, he gave the above orders of having new vehicles. He also instructed the ward officers to complete the works with care and within deadline with the aim that there should be no complaint from citizens regarding nullahs during the monsoon.

The deputy commissioner Aparna Thete, head of Solidwaste Management (SWM) Nandkishore Bhombe, executive engineer Hemant Kolhe, B D Phad, mechanical section's deputy engineer D K Pandit and sectional engineer Amol Kulkarni were present in the meeting.

Pandey underlined that the AMC had given the nullahs on a lease basis to different organisations and societies. As a result, the bills of desilting each nullah, passing beneath their infrastructure, should be collected from them, he stressed.
