CM to perform 'bhoomipujan' of City Centre on Feb 5 ; Divisional Commissioner conducts review meeting

Aurangabad, Feb 2:

The chief minister Uddhav Thackeray will be arriving in the city to perform 'bhoomipujan' of a City Centre, to be built near Subhedari Guest House on February 5 afternoon. The auspicious programme will be held online. The CM will also be inspecting the road from API Corner to Garware Stadium (which is being built by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) on Friday.

In the backdrop of the CM's visit, the divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar today held a meeting to review various ongoing development works in the city, at the divisional commissionerate, this morning. The district collector Sunil Chavan and the municipal commissioner A K Pandey were also present in the meeting.

Chavan apprised that the chief minister will be inspecting the road from API Corner to Garware Stadium. He will also review the status of roads being built from the state government funds by the MSRDC and the Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation (MIDC).

The construction of elevated storage reservoirs (ESRs), under the water supply scheme, at two locations will be starting soon at Garware Stadium and Delhi Gate. If the CM has time, he would also inspect the ESR site. The contractors will be starting the works soon.

At the district collectorate, the CM will also review the district's achievement and obtain details of the proposed District Sports Complex (Chikalthana). The government had sanctioned a fund of Rs 25 crore for the complex. The administration had issued the work order in 2019, but the work was not started due to Covid-19.

Bhoomipujan through online

Thackeray will perform the bhoomipujan of the City Centre online. The centre proposed to built upon one and a half acres of land will comprise of amphitheatre and other amenities. The police and army band will conduct parade once in a week, and the citizens could have a glance of it.

The development works like conservation of Kile Ark fortification wall, beautification of the historical entrance gate of Government College and tarring of internal roads on Subhedari Guest House campus will also be inaugurated. The total estimate cost of these works is Rs 2 crore, it is learnt.

It is expected that the CM may make a new announcement after holding review meetings in the city. It could be related to Satara-Deolai or any new programme of his concept.
