Aurangabad, June 7:

The party had appointed Dr. Kalyan Kale and Hisham Osmani as the district president and city president of Aurangabad City District Congress Committee during the last year (June). However, the remaining office-bearers of their executive bodies had not been finalised so far. Both the presidents had sent the list of executive body members and are hoping to seek approval soon.

The appointment of Kale and Osmani was held when Balasaheb Thorat was the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president. Later on, Nana Patole took over as MPCC chief. The selection of members in executive bodies is being delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

Kale said, " I had sent the list of executive body members of Aurangabad District Congress Committee for approval to the then MPCC chief and sitting chief as well. The posts of the last executive body members have been retained and they are working on their posts. The work has not been stopped."

Osmani said, " I have sent the list of 50 executive body members of the Aurangabad City Congress Committee for approval to the current MPCC chief. The posts of last executive body members have been retained and their functioning is underway."

It may be noted the new president (district or city) after their election has the right to select the executive body members independently, but the duo Kale and Osmani seems to be deprived of this right. Presently, there is not a single MP or MLA of Congress in the district. The party workers and activists informed that the MPCC office-bearers should take interest in forming a major team so as to strengthen the party hands in the district. They hoped the current MPCC chief will approve the district level and city level bodies soon.
