Corona increases the importance of health, hygiene and diet

Aurangabad, April 6:

Corona pandemic not only rooted in the importance of health, hygiene and diet among the citizens. It also strengthened the government health system. It has also created awareness regarding the importance of health insurance. Hence health insurance has also doubled, experts said. Emphasis is being placed on increasing facilities in the healthcare system for the treatment of corona patients in the district.

Every year April 7 is celebrated as World Health Day. This year's theme is 'Let's create a better, healthier world'. In Aurangabad, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) provides the best tertiary care services for patients across Marathwada. Similarly, the health department has 50 primary health centres, 3 sub-districts and 11 rural hospitals in the district. There is also a district civil hospital, corporation health centres, cantonment hospital. The constitution guarantees the right to life, and the right to health. But since the health system itself is lagging behind, the common man has to suffer a lot of inconveniences. However, the corona pandemic made the health system more efficient. It also increased the importance of health, diet and hygiene increased among the citizens.

Health insurances increased

Health insurance used to be a costly affair. There was a lack of attention as that there were no returns. But now the trend towards health insurance has increased. Earlier, the rate of health insurance was 7 per cent. This proportion has now gone up to 20 per cent, said, Vilas Deshmukh, financial advisor.

Manpower is also important

The role of doctors, nurses and staff is becoming more important in the corona pandemic. Beds in the hospital increased. But compared to this, manpower is insufficient. Therefore, emphasis is being laid on the appointment of doctors and nurses, said Dr Sundar Kulkarni, district surgeon.

New treatment methods

New treatment methods had to be used for corona patients. In a way, it was a challenge. In addition, investments were made in oxygen supply, ICUs and new wards. This investment will definitely be useful for the future as well, said Dr Kanan Yelikar, dean, GMCH.
