Corporation procures 10,000 Remdesivir injections

Aurangabad, April 4:

The number of patients affected by coronavirus is increasing rapidly. The municipal corporation has purchased 10,000 Remdesivir injections for Rs 650 each for the treatment of infected patients. Sources said that the injections were procured under the government quota directly from the company at a discounted rate.

More than a thousand infected patients are found in the city every day. While 32,000 infected patients were found in March, the number has gone up to 1,400 since the beginning of April. About a hundred patients have died in just three days. Infected patients have been observed to become increasingly severe. Although Remdesivir injections are used to treat critically ill patients in Meltron, these injections are difficult to obtain. The health staff have to face the wrath of the patient's relatives as they have to bring injections from outside. Therefore, the corporation decided to purchase Remdesivir injection. According to sources in the health department, the municipal corporation, Zilla Parishad, Municipal council and government medical college received a letter regarding the purchase of Remdesivir injection at a discounted rate under the government quota. As soon as this letter was received by the municipal corporation, it was immediately brought to the notice of administrator Astik Kumar Pandey. Pandey then instructed to purchase 10,000 Remdesivir injections for immediate treatment of corona patients. The demand was reported to the company accordingly. The corporation has received a stock of 10,000 injections, at a discounted rate of Rs 650 per injection. From this, 2,000 injections have been given to infected patients. Last year, the relatives of the patients bought the same injection for Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000.
