Court cancels bail of four accused involved in black marketing of Remdesivir injections

Aurangabad, May 7:

The local court has today cancelled the conditional bail of four accused arrested by the Pundaliknagar police on the charge of black marketing Remdesivir injections. Meanwhile, the accused have been sent to Harsul Jail on magisterial custody remand (MCR).

It may be noted that the police had arrested a druggist Mandar Anant Bhalerao (29, Shivajinagar), Abhijeet Namdeo Taur (33, Sahyognagar), an employee of District civil Hospital Anil Omprakash Bote (40, Shivajinagar), and Deepak Subhashrao Dhakne (32, Yashoda Complex, Beed) on April 16. After spending four days in the police lock-up, the court granted them conditional bail on April 20. However, the commissioner of police (CP) Nikhil Gupta went through their case file and then handed over the investigation to the assistant police inspector (API) Ghanshyam Sonawane. He then submitted an application in the court demanding to cancel the bail of the above four accused. Accordingly, the court directed the accused to remain present in the court and submit their say.

Today, during the arguments, the police requested the court to cancel their bail as the accused are associated with the health sector and it was their responsibility to take care of people's health during this Epidemic situation. Instead, they resorted to black marketing of the injections. The bail will convey a wrong message in society.

The court after hearing the arguments of both the parties then cancelled the conditional bail considering the demand of the police. They have been sent on 14 days MCR to the Harsul Jail.
