Court grants last opportunity to Govt for filling reply

Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice R N Ladda granted three weeks time as last chance to file reply about the establishment of Super Speciality Hospital in each district of the State.

According to details, a petition was filed in the court seeking the establishment of a Super Speciality hospital in each district from 25 per cent profit kept as a reserved fund of Government Employees Cooperative Credit Societies.

As per the affidavit submitted by the District Deputy Registrar (DDR) of Cooperatives Commissionerate in the court, it was stated that there are 7,000 Government Employees Cooperative Credit Societies in the State.

It is mandatory for a cooperative credit society to keep 25 pc of its profit as a reserved fund with District Central Cooperative Bank or State Cooperative Bank.

The petitioner claimed that the reserve fund which is in Rs 4,000 crores to Rs 5,000 crores of the credit societies were lying unused in the State.

“As per the provisions in Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, the Credit Societies can use reserved 25 pc fund without permission from the Government,” it was stated in the petition.
