Court will not allow experiments on patients with improper ventilators

Aurangabad, June 2:

We cannot allow the use of ventilators that could endanger the lives of patients. The bench will also instruct to return these ventilators if necessary. In such a situation, it will be the responsibility of the central government to replace these ventilators with new and efficient ventilators, said Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice B U Debadwar of the Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court during a hearing on Wednesday. The central government must now take a firm stand in this regard, clarified the bench.

Assistant solicitor general Anil Singh said on Wednesday that two senior doctors from Safardarjung and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospitals would arrive in Aurangabad today to inspect 150 faulty ventilators supplied by the center to the Government Medical College and Hospital. With a one-year warranty, the central government will insist on replacing faulty ventilators. The bench directed to submit the report of the inquiry on June 7. Public prosecutor representing state D R Kale told the court that on May 29, doctors, including representatives of ventilator manufacturers and suppliers, inspected the ventilators in the GMCH in the presence of 26 people. It was found to be useless. Ventilators cannot be used. A hearing on the case will further be held on June 7.
