COVID vaccination rolls out in Aurangabad district

Aurangabad, Jan 16:

The Covid-19 vaccination drive got rolled out, in the district, from the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) primary health centre in Bansilalnagar today at around 10.45 am. The drive got started after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's largest immunisation exercise, in India, at 10.30 am.

The revenue and guardian minister Subhash Desai, Rajya Sabha MP Bhagwat Karad, MLA Atul Save, Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire, district collector Sunil Chavan, municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey, the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar and others were present on occasion. The medical officer and other health staff of the centre were on toes to implement the vaccination successfully.

The AMC will be administering the Covid-19 vaccine to 500 health care personnel (in the first phase) today through its five vaccination centres, set up at AMC's health centres in Bansilalnagar, Bhimnagar (Bhausinghpura), Cidco N-11, Cidco N-8 and Sadatnagar (Railway Station). Each centre will be administering the vaccine to 100 personnel. The AMC had sent SMS on mobile phones stating the centre's name and the time for the vaccine to all 500 personnel. The vaccine will be administered from 9 am to 5 pm.

Dr Rajendra Vaidya (paediatrician) was the first to take the vaccine in the district. He was administered the vaccine at Bansilalnagar centre. A team of private paediatricians also took the vaccine here today. Few doctors of India Medical Association (IMA) also took the vaccine.

It is learnt that each beneficiary (the person taking vaccine) has to take the first dosage of the vaccine after receiving the first SMS on his mobile phone. Later on, the health team keeps him under observation for some 15-30 minutes on the campus. If there are no complaints, then the beneficiary receives the second SMS on his mobile, and then he has to proceed for taking the second dosage.

Under the guidance of Dr Padalkar, the vaccination officer, Dr Smita Nalgirkar, is coordinating with the all five zonal medical officers - Dr Shoeb (Sadatnagar PHC), Dr Ujwala Bhamre (Bansilalnagar PHC), Dr Suhasini Patil (Bhimnagar PHC), Dr Bushra Seemi (Cidco N-8 PHC) and Dr Ravi Savre (Cidco N-11 PHC) to execute the vaccination drive successfully.
