DDH to probe into supply of govt. ventilators to CCC started by MLA

Aurangabad, May 17:

The state's Public Health Department has taken serious cognizance of the supply of government ventilators to private hospitals and a newly started Covid Care Centre by a BJP MLA at Lasur Station. The deputy director (health) Dr. Swapnil Lale assured of conducting a thorough inquiry into the distribution of all government ventilators.

It is said that the health department and the district administration, instead of upgrading facilities in the rural hospitals, are freeing themselves by supplying the government ventilators to the private hospitals and to the centres set up by public representatives. It so happened that the MLA Prashant Bamb had started a 100-bed hospital, a few days ago, at Lasur Station.

The hospital is equipped with ICU beds, ventilators, beds with oxygen, etc. There is an Oxygen manufacturing plant also on the campus. The administration supplied four government ventilators to this CCC. The issue was highlighted by Lokmat in its edition dated May 17.

There is an office of deputy directorate (health) in the city. However, its senior officials pleaded innocence in the distribution of ventilators. " The ventilators could not be distributed directly to anyone. The stock was given to the district civil surgeon. Hence we will inquire whether his office has given the ventilators at their level. We will also see whether there is a permission of district collector to given the ventilators and also a written order regarding its supply," clarifies Dr. Lale.
