Edu Dept has no idea about illegal schools

Aurangabad, Jan 13: There is confusion whether illegal schools exist or not in the district since the Education Department has no information about it.

It may be noted the Education Department of Zilla Parishad carried inspection of schools between July 15 and 31 during the academic year 2018-19, 2019-20. A total of 14 schools were found illegal. The department issued orders of their closure. Later, six schools got permissions from the Government while remaining were shut down.

The officers also submitted their field report with photographs. The schools that fall within Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) jurisdiction displayed their posters and banners in public places.

Education officer Surajprasad Jaiswal said that they sent a letter to the AMC recommending action against the schools since the Corporation was entitled to initiate action as per the provisions in Right to Education Act (RTE).

The boards of the illegal school were displayed before different schools during the academic year 2019-20. Some schools got permission while others were closed.

Surajprasad Jaiswal said “There are some schools which have permission, but, lack shifting approval. Such schools are also termed as illegal. The warning to close such school was given last year after the inspection.”

He said that the illegal school information is not available as primary schools were not reopened yet. The admissions in illegal school cause loss to students. Parents need to verify if the school have government permission.

“The illegal schools will be given a warning on their reopening. The AMC is entitled to take action against schools within its jurisdiction. This will be brought to its notice,” he added.
