Efforts being made to save research guideship of college teachers in Bamu

Aurangabad, Oct 19:

Members of Ordinance Amendment Committee made efforts in the meeting held in Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu) Monday to save PhD research guideship of college teachers.

It may be noted as per the norms of University Grants Commission (UGC) issued in 2019, a teacher working in a college which has research centre is eligible to apply for the Ph D research guide.

Before 2019, a college teacher without research centre was eligible to become a research guide. BAMU amended the Ph D ordinance as per the UGC norms. Only a few colleges within the jurisdiction of the university have research centres. Therefore, hundreds of teachers will lose research guideship.

Following the demand of authority and board members, vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole set a committee led by pro-vice-chancellor Dr Pravin Wakte. The first meeting of the committee was held today. Committee members Dr Rajesh Karpe, Dr Walmik Sarwade, recommended getting joined research guides of a college to research centre of another nearest college.
