Aurangabad, Nov 21:
The State Common Entrance Test Cell is likely to hold only Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for engineering admissions instead of three. It may be noted that this time around, the whole process is delayed given the spread of Novel coronavirus.
The MHT-CET which is conducted generally in May was held from October 1 to 20 and November 6 and 7 for admissions to Engineering, Pharmacy and Agriculture courses. The result is likely to be declared by month-end.
Every year, three CAP rounds were conducted for engineering admissions in Government, private aided and non-aided colleges across the State. The classes commence by August 15.
This time around, the classes for the first year will commence from New Year.
According to sources, the CET Cell decided to reduce the rounds. There will be two CAP rounds only against earlier three. The sources said that reduction in rounds would save time and money of students and help in started classes within one month from the declaration of the result.
There are 360 Engineering colleges with around 1.30 lakh intake in the State.
“Once the rounds are reduced for Engineering, authorities of other courses may follow suit. It is important to complete the syllabus on to reduce the duration gap between current academic year and next academic year happened because of COVID,” the sources added.
