Former Maths Dept head Dr Dhaigude passed away

Aurangabad, May 11:

Dr Dnyanoba Bhaurao Dhaigude, former head of Mathematics Department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and president of Marathwada Mathematical Society, died of COVID on Tuesday.

He was 70 and survived by two sons, one daughter and grandchildren. His wife Ranjana Dhaiguded died of the pandemic virus last month only.

Dr Dnyanoba, who hailed from Basarola (Kaij tehsil), started his teaching career from Pratishthan College of Paithan.

Later, he joined Mathematics Department as a professor. He was also the head of the same department. He worked as National Service Scheme coordinator and Management Council member, director of Academic Staff College. He was recovering from COVID when he had low white blood cells. He passed away today morning. Dr Dhaigude was a well-known mathematician from State to national level.

In his condolence message, vice-chancellor Dr Pramod Yeole said that the death of Dhaigude had resulted in the loss of a national mathematician.

“Dr Dhaigude had the lion’s share in the development of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Departments in Bamu,” he said.

Current Mathematics Department head Dr S K Panchal said that an online condolence meeting would be held in the department on May 12.
