Former union minister Gandhi passes away

Aurangabad, March 17:

The former union minister Dilip Gandhi passed away after a brief illness today early morning. He was 69. He was tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday and was being treated in a private hospital in Delhi, where he breathed his last.

He is survived by his wife Saroj, son Suvendra, daughter in law, daughter and son in law. Gandhi had represented Ahmednagar south constituency in parliament for three terms. He was also the minister of state for shipping in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

He began his political career as city municipal council and later became deputy president. He was also the chairman of Nagar Urban Bank. He was a close associate of BJP from the very early days and worked hard to strengthen the party in the district. In 2019's Lok Sabha election, he was denied a BJP ticket, making it clear for now the sitting MP Sujay Vikhe.
