Gang of bike thieves arrested; 23 bikes seized

Aurangabad, March 18:

Rural police have arrested a seven-member gang of two-wheeler thieves and seized 23 motorcycles from their possession. The thieves have confessed to stealing motorcycles from Aurangabad, Jalna, Buldhana, Nashik and Jalgaon districts.

Under the guidance of the superintendent of police Mokshada Patil, local crime branch inspector Bhagwan Funde had set up a special team of local crime branch to catch two-wheeler thieves. The team received information that the two accused wanted by the police in the case of two-wheeler theft had come to their native village in Jalna district. The team raided Renukai Pimpalgaon in Bhokardan tehsil and arrested Shekhar alias Anna Prakash Dandge and Vilas Rambhau Kurhade from Hisoda village. During interrogation, they confessed to stealing two-wheelers along with their four companions from Aurangabad, Jalna, Nashik, Jalgaon and Buldhana districts. Police later arrested Shriram alias Bandu Shailendrasinh Jonwal (Bhokardan), Tejrao alias Baba Ramdas Jadhav (Renukai Pimpalgaon), Dnyaneshwar alias Nana Ramdas Pawar (Masrul, Buldhana), Gajanan Fakirchand Gothwal (Buldhana). The thieves sold the motorcycle stating that these motorbikes have been seized by the bank. Police have seized 23 motorcycles and 5 mobiles worth Rs 8.47 lakh. SI Sandeep Kale, constable Balu Pathrikar, Namdev Sirsath, Shrimant Bhalerao, Rahul Pagare, Sanjay Bhosale, Babasaheb Navale and others took action.
