Aurangabad, Feb 24:

A girl trying to commit suicide by jumping in the Harsul Lake on Wednesday as her sister scolded her over spending lot of time on mobile phone. The police with the help of the security guard saved her and did not allow her to jump in the Lake.

The girl, Swati (20, name changed) has no mother and her father married again. Hence, she was nurtured by her grandmother. After completing class 12th, she started preparation for the police recruitment at an institute at TV Centre area. However, she used to spend a lot of time on mobile phone. Her elder sister scolded her and asked her to be serious about her preparations. Swati was upset with it and went out and even quarreled with one of her friends. She then thought of committing suicide and went to the Harsul Lake. The security guard suspected her activity. The guard and the constable of the Community policing Nirmala Nimbhore, Shruti Nandedkar, Kavita Dhanedhar restricted her from jumping in the Lake. The police tried to console her but she was not in the state to listen.

She was then taken to the Cidco police station where PI Kiran Patil counseled her. She was told to continue her studies and was assured to help her gaining job in a private company until then. She was then handed over to her relatives.
