GMCH terminates contractual doctors

Aurangabad, July 14:

The administration of Government Medical College and Hospital has terminated doctors' from the service after nurses and technicians staff because of unavailability of the fund.

With the spread of Covid, over 270 contractual employees, including doctors, nurses were recruited. Candidates were not available for some posts. The GMCH had to search the candidate for some posts.

The contractual employees were terminated after the decline in patients. The GMCH administration cited the reason for getting irregular funds for the employees' salaries. It gets fund from the district administration.

Covid patients are undergoing treatment in only one ward of the Super Speciality bloc.

Members of All Indian Trade Union-Congress, Maharashtra Kamgar Karmachari Sanghatna demonstrated in the GMCH premises on Wednesday in protest against the termination of employees. Dean Dr Kanan Yelikar said that doctors and employees recruitment during Covid outbreak were terminated.

“A letter would be sent to the district to seek their guidance on the contractual staff’s services. The contractual employees would be recruited through a private agency,” she added.
