HC directs to issue notice to Central, State Govts over vacant posts in hospitals; MP Jaleel files PIL

Aurangabad, May 4:

Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice S D Kulkarni, during an online hearing on Tuesday, issued directives to serve notice to Central and State Governments for vacant posts in hospitals following public interest litigation (PIL) filed by MP Imtiaz Jaleel.

MP Jaleel field the PIL as a party in person against vacant posts and lack of medical facilities in government hospitals of the district where COVID patient are being treated.

The petitioner also requested the court to direct the Government to cover all pandemic patients under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. Currently on two or three per cent population is covered due to shortcoming in the Government Resolution of the scheme

The court directed the Governments to submit an affidavit about how they would fill vacant posts and provide facilities in the hospitals. The next hearing has been placed on May 7.
