Hold a special session of the legislative assembly on OBC issues

Aurangabad, June 16:

Various issues of the Other Backward Class (OBC) are pending. The recommendations of the Mandal Commission do not appear to be being implemented effectively. Now, with the Supreme Court's ruling, the political reservation of OBCs has come to an end. A special session of the state legislative assembly should be convened to discuss the overall issues of OBCs, demanded former MLA Dr Narayan Munde and Bhau Thorat in a press conference organised by the non-political OBC-SC-ST Social Front on Wednesday.

Coordinator Mahesh Ninale said, “Elections of any local body including Aurangabad Municipal Corporation should not be held unless the political reservation of OBCs is restored. A petition will be filed in the court through the front. We will be fighting against those who inflict injustice on the OBCs," Munde said. Munde further sid that the state government has constituted a Backward Classes Commission as per the decision of the Supreme Court. Facilities should be made available to the commission, empirical data of the OBCs in the state should be submitted immediately and a report should be called from the backward classes commission and reservation in promotion should be implemented for government and semi-government offices. It was announced that rallies would be organized in every district to create awareness among the OBCs and agitations would be organized from time to time. Principal G H Rathod, former mayor Bapu Ghadmode, senior communist leader Manohar Taksal, former corporator Kirti Shinde, Saraswati Harkal and others were present at the press conference.
