Hospitals harassing patients for HRCT to face action!

Aurangabad, April 19:

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today has hinted at initiating action against hospitals found collecting money more than the fixed rates by the government. The private hospitals are observed conducting CT Scan of Covid patients claiming it as a part of treatment. They are also alleged to looting the relatives of patients under the name of HRCT Scores.

It may be noted that the Central Team has clarified that there is no need for HRCT (high-resolution CT) scan, but the private hospitals insist every patient for CT Scan, stated the complaints received by the AMC. The AMC was also alerted on the looting of patients for HRCT Scan. Taking cognizance of the plaints, the AMC fixed the rates while treating the Covid patients.

HRCT Chest test rates

CT Scan machines with low capacity - Rs 2,000 ; CT Scan machine with 16 to 64 Slices capacity - Rs 2500 and CT Scan machine with 64 slices and above capacity - Rs 3,000.

Mandatory to provide all reports

It is mandatory upon the hospitals to submit the Covid patient's report and mention the CT Scan done through which type and capacity of the machine. It should not be done without the prescription of the registered doctors and the radiologist should issue the HRCT-Chest report. The private hospitals and diagnostic centres should display the rates for public notice. The rates will be remain fixed till the implementation of the Epidemic Act. The centres should also daily alerts to AMC mentioning the details of suspects and Covid positive patients detected through HRCT check-up.

Meanwhile, the municipal commissioner A K Pandey underlined that the hospitals or centres found violating the orders or collecting more charges than the fixed rates would face action under Epidemic Act 1897, Disaster Management Act 2005, MESMA Act 2011, Bombay Nursing Home Registration Act 2006, Bombay Public Trust Act 1950, etc.
